Pre-Op Instructions

Making sure that you follow the pre-op root canal instructions can help your procedure go more quickly, smoothly, and with better results. Sometimes the infection in a tooth is such that we will prescribe antibiotics for you to begin taking before your procedure. Please make sure that you follow the exact directions of any medications we may prescribe.

Pre-Op Root Canal Instructions

You will be provided with exact instructions to follow before you visit our office for your root canal procedure. Below are a few things you may want to keep in mind before your treatment:

  • Please avoid taking aspirin in the 10 days before your endodontic treatment.
  • Take any antibiotics as prescribed before your endodontic procedure.
  • Wear comfortable and loose-fitting clothing for your appointment. We want you to be as comfortable as possible during your procedures.
  • Please avoid alcoholic beverages in the 12 hours before your appointment.
  • Follow the instructions for eating in the 24 hours before your appointment – these instructions will vary depending on the procedure you’ll be undergoing.
  • Please make sure to get plenty of rest the night before your appointment.

Let us know beforehand if you have any fears or anxieties regarding your endodontic treatment. We will take these into account when deciding which sedation options are right for you.
